FTP - how to upload files to your website.
 
To do this one usually uses an FTP client, some software designed for this purpose. You can use a web browser but the process is very limiting.

For the PC one of the most popular FTP clients is a programme called CuteFTP and for the MAC, a programme called Fetch.

To access your server space you will need a username and a password. Both are supplied to you by Coll Digital.


Below are the typical CuteFTP settings for FTP access:-

Enter any name you like for Label.
Enter
ftp.yourdomain.co.uk in the Host Address box.
Enter your user name in Username.
Enter your password in Password.

Then click on the Actions tab

Enter /httpdocs/ in the remote folder box. (Make sure it has leading and trailing slashes)
For the local folder, select the folder on your computer that contains for files to upload.

You may now press Connect


On Ubuntu Linux, the standard FTP programme is called gFTP:-


In the Host box type in ftp.yourdomain.co.uk
In the User box type in your username, as supplied by Coll Digital.
Enter your password in the Pass box, as supplied by Coll Digital.
Press the connect button.

When the server files appear, double click the folder called httpdocs


On a MAC (OSX) ,one common FTP programme is called Fetch:-

In the Hostname box type in ftp.yourdomain.co.uk
In the Username box type in your username, as supplied by Coll Digital.
Enter your password in the Password box, as supplied by Coll Digital.
Then click the blue button (maked by the red arrow) and more options will dropdown:-.
Enter
/httpdocs/ into Initial folder
Press Connect
