Google Email Settings - Basic using POP:-
 

If you wish to use it in the old fashioned POP method of downloading emails to your computer, please setup you email client using the following parameters.
You may use the e-mail (POP) guide and substitute the POP and SMTP settings.

First

First you must enable POP in Google mail:-

  1. Sign into google webmail http://webmail.
  2. Click Settings at the top right of the Gmail page
  3. Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP
  4. Select Enable POP for all mail or Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.
  5. Choose the action you'd like your Gmail messages to take after they are accessed with POP.
  6. Press Save Changes.

If you wish to seup your mail client manually, or your mail client isn't listed in the menu, the basic settings are detailed below:-

Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - requires SSL: pop.gmail.com
Use SSL: Yes
Port: 995
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS: smtp.gmail.com
Use Authentication: Yes
Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL)
Port: 465 or 587
Account Name: your email address @
Email Address: your email address @
Password: your Gmail password as supplied by Coll Digital

Please note that if your mail client does not support SMTP authentication, you won't be able to send mail through your client using Gmail.

Also, if you're having trouble sending mail but you've confirmed that encyrption is active for SMTP in your mail client, try to configure your SMTP server on a different port: 465 or 587.
